Carpentry is in our DNA.
Owner, Thyssen de Goede, started in the construction industry as young as they come. His father and mentor, Hans de Goede, owned and operated the Victoria Truss Plant based in Cobble Hill/Cumberland, where he spent most of his teenage years working during the summer. Thyssen graduated from GP Vanier Secondary in the Comox Valley, where he grew a passion for carpentry… and rugby!
Thyssen began his rugby career at GP Vanier, moving on to play with the U19 National team, and later progressing to play on the Men’s National Sevens and Fifteen Aside teams. He is also a very proud James Bay Athletic Association alumni! While Thyssen was pursuing his passion for rugby, he was also committed to growing his carpentry skills, becoming a Red Seal ticketed carpenter. Eventually, Thyssen’s strong ties to the Valley brought him back home, where he started to build a family, and this business.
Now, the soon-to-be father of two is proud to bring the same level of focus and dedication to his leadership role at Thyssen de Goede Developments as he did on the rugby pitch.
